Composition: P3 (a)

For this task, I went around school campus a took a range of different images using a camera set on AV aperture priority. I put into practise the skills of composition.

Framing the Image: The framing for this image, is natural. It consists of leaves that are slightly out of focus to help isolate the main subject, which is the flower and to highlight it, so that the viewer's eye is focused on the flower straight away.
Rule of Thirds: This image uses the rule of thirds, because the main subject, is placed slightly to the left on the imaginary vertical line. This helps to add balance to the photo and helps the flower to stand out more.
Background Balance: The background of this photo consists of leaves that are out of focus, so that it highlights and focuses on the main subject, which is the flower. The Background leaves are also a dark, bold colour. Where as the flower is a bright, light colour which helps the viewer focus on the flower straight away due to the contrast between the background leaves and the flower.

This photo is fit for prupos

Framing of the Image: This photo has a natural framing consisting of leaves that surround the flowers all the way around. Some of the leaves are out of focus which help to highlight the flowers, but some are in focus to make the image more interesting and balanced.
Rule of thirds: This photo slightly uses the rule of thirds, as the main subject of the image, which is the flower is placed to the right on the vertical lines which help to balance the photo.
Background: The background of this photo consists of slightly out of focused leaves, and focused leaves adding balance to the photo, making it more interesting and exciting to look at. The background leaves, are plain bland colours, helping the flower to stand out more as it is a lighter colour so it is easily the main focus.

Framing of the Image: The framing for this image, consists of trees, and leaves around the top of the photo and to the sides. The bottom framing for this photo is the grass. The framing helps to draw attention to the rugby posts that are placed to the left of this image.
Rule of thirds: This photo uses the rule of thirds because the rugby post, lays the right of the photo on the vertical imaginary lines. This helps balance out the photo, as on the left there are out of focus leaves in the top right hand corner which gives the photo balance and makes it more interesting and exciting to look at.
Background: The background of this photo, mostly consists of trees and grass, which helps the picture to be more interesting to look at. The main focus of this picture is rugby posts which are white, the background helps the posts to stand out more as it mostly consists of dark green colours.

Framing the image: The framing of this image consists of grass and blurred tree's around the focused subject. As it is blurred, it helps you to focus on the main subject of the image which are the two clear trees in front.
Rule of thirds: This photo uses the rule of thirds because both of the trees lie to the left of the photo and one of them is lined up on the imaginary vertical line. This gives a balanced composition, and focuses on the main subjects.
Background: The background for this photo consists of blurred trees, and grass on the bottom for the picture. The trees are blurred and not in focus in the background, but the main focus, which are the two trees are clear and in focus so the background helps to highlight the main subject well. There is not a lot of background "noise" either so the main subject is easily focused on.

Framing the image: This image has no significant framing. The frame that backs up the flower is just bricks from a building, which helps to isolate the flower and help all the focus to be on the main subject.
Rule of thirds: This photo uses the rule of thirds very well, as the flower which is the main subject is placed to the left on the imaginary vertical line. Although, the right hand side of this photo is fairly blind, it actually helps the flower to be the main focus.
Background: The background in this photo is fairly bland, with no background "noise" which is effective because it helps to highlight the main subject in this photo which is the flower. The background is also mainly one plain colour, so the flower is focused on straight away due to the bright colours of the flower petals.

Framing the image: The framing for this image is similar to the image above, except the bricks in the background are blurred and out of focus helping to highlight the flowers in front which are clear and in focus. The framing in this picture helps to isolate the flowers because there is no background "noise"
Rule of thirds: This photo also uses the rule of thirds very well, as the main subject of the image is placed to the left on the vertical line. As there is no background "noise" to the right of the picture, it helps to put all the viewers focus on the flower.
Background: The background for this picture is fairly bland, and is also not in focus which helps to isolate the flowers and draws attention to them straight away.

Framing the Image: The framing of this image consists of blurred leaves that surround the main subject, which is the flower. They help to isolate it, as the leaves are all out of focus where as the flower is very clear and in focus.
Rule of Thirds: This photo uses the rule of thirds brilliantly because the main subject is placed to the left of the picture on the imaginary vertical line. This ensures that the photo is well balanced because on the right hand side, the picture mostly consists of green leaves and on the left, is where the pink flower is placed.
Background: The background of this picture consists of blurred and out of focus leaves, which are all green. This ensures that there is contrast and that the flower is the main subject because it has a much brighter colour, and is in focus so it stands out the most.

Framing the Image: The framing of this image, is the grass that surrounds the two conkers. Towards the outside of the picture, the grass is blurred, but closer to the main subject, the grass that is used as a frame is in focus and clear, helping to out focus on the two conkers.
Rule of thirds: This photo uses the rule of thirds very well, because the two conkers are placed towards the left on the imaginary vertical line, as well as towards the bottom of the picture on the imaginary horizontal line. This helps the image to be more balanced and interesting for the viewer.
Background: The background of this photo consists of grass, towards the outside slightly out of focus and grass closer to the main subject, more in focus. There is also a contrast between the conkers and the grass which help to isolate the conkers and help them become the center of attention straight away.

Framing the Image: The framing for this image consists of out of focus, leaves and stems helping to isolate the flowers ahead which are in focus.
Rule of Thirds: This photo goes slightly against the rule of thirds, because the main subjects are not exactly on the vertical or horizontal lines. This is still effective though because the main focus is in the middle of the photo helping the viewer to focus on it straight away.
Background: The background is fairly bland and consists of blurred stems and leaves. The colours of the background contrast with the flower which help to focus on the flower more easily.

Framing the Image: The framing of this image consists of a few blurred flowers, as well as in focus flowers, which make the photo more exciting and interesting to look at.
Rule of Thirds: This photo does not use the rule of thirds, this is because the main focus of the photo is not just one subject, but actually the whole photo is the main subject. There is not one flower that stands out, as this photo is showing the variety of colours. This is effective as it makes it more exciting to look at.
Background: The background of this photo consists of blurred flowers at the top of the picture.
The background of this photo is not necessarily used as a background though, because this photo focuses on the whole image, showing the variety of colours, but your eyes are naturally drawn to the left hand side of the photo, because the colours of these flowers are more brighter and are more clear., giving contrast to the photo which helps it to become more interesting.

1)
The reason why this photo is out of focus, is because the shutter speed was set at 1/10 seconds which gave it a longer exposure, allowing more light in and making the motion blurred. The aperture was set at f/22 which meant that the background could be in focus, as there is a deeper depth of field but the main subject was blurred. The ISO speed Ratings were set at 100 because the photo was being taken during the daytime, which gave it a higher quality. This photo is fit for purpose because it shows that the main subject is moving by making it blurry.

2)
This photo has the same settings as the photo above, so it resulted in a similar photo. 3)

This photo is in focus because the shutter speed settings were set at 1/8000 seconds giving it a shorter exposure, allowing less light in so that the motion is stopped. The aperture was set at f/5.6 giving it a shallower depth of field, allowing more light in so that the background is slightly blurred and the main subject is in focus. The ISO speed ratings were set at 2000, which gave it a higher sensitivity to the light, giving the photo a lower quality than photos above, where the runner is out of focus. This photo is fit for purpose because it shows the person running, without having to make it blurry.
